ADC Backs Wike's Rainbow Coalition Ahead of 2027 Elections

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, a faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State, led by national Chairman Ibe Kachikwu, has officially aligned with the Rainbow Coalition formed by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. During an engagement meeting in Isiokpo, the ADC Secretary for Ikwerre Local Government Area, Samuel Chuku, stated that they were directed by Kachikwu to support Wike's coalition.

The faction claims to be the authentic leadership of the ADC in the council and plans to continue this alignment until the Supreme Court resolves the ongoing leadership dispute. They urged supporters of former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi to cease identifying themselves as ADC leaders, labeling them as intruders.

Chuku emphasized that the ADC leadership has mandated their alignment with Wike's coalition while awaiting the Supreme Court's decision on the legitimate national leadership.
