Akwa Ibom Police Warn Against Political Violence Ahead of 2027

The Akwa Ibom Police Command has warned political thugs and troublemakers against disrupting the peace in the state as the 2027 general elections approach. Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, stated that anyone engaging in violence, intimidation, or criminal activities will face severe legal consequences.

This warning was issued following a major security operation in Uyo on August 31, aimed at demonstrating the Command's preparedness to maintain peace during the electoral period. Azare outlined a security strategy focused on intelligence gathering, stakeholder engagement, and preventive policing.

He urged youths to avoid being manipulated into political violence, asserting that no political ambition justifies harming citizens. Additionally, the Command mandated political parties and organizations to notify the Police in advance of any rallies or gatherings to facilitate security coordination and prevent clashes.

Organizers must provide details such as date, time, venue, and expected participants to ensure smooth operations.
