APC Chieftain Jibrin Resigns, Rejects Support for Tinubu

Captain Mohammed Bala Jibrin, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), announced his resignation from the party on August 31, 2026. He declared that he would not support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party's presidential candidate nor Barr Mohammad Abdullahi Abubakar, the gubernatorial candidate for the 2027 general elections.

Jibrin criticized both leaders for failing to prioritize the welfare of the people. He had previously sought the APC governorship ticket in Bauchi State but withdrew his aspirations during the 2026 gubernatorial party primaries.

In his resignation letter addressed to the APC Chairman of the Nassarawa/Bakin Kasuwan ward in Katagum LGA, he cited "brazen injustice" and the imposition of candidates without considering party members' views. Jibrin stated that his decision was supported by consultations with his supporters, friends, and associates, who endorsed his exit from the party, which he described as the "most honourable move.".
