APC and PDP Clash Over Disrupted Kwara Empowerment Event

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State have engaged in a war of words following the disruption of an empowerment program organized by APC Women Leader Tawakalitu Agaka, known as Hajia Tawa, on Saturday at her family residence in Ilorin. The program aimed to support women, youths, and widows, with cash distributed to 200 beneficiaries.

Tensions arose when a group of individuals, alleged to be PDP supporters, confronted Agaka and APC supporters, leading to chants and a police intervention. Ibraheem Abdullateef, Senior Special Assistant to the Kwara State Governor, accused the PDP of attempting to reintroduce political thuggery, asserting that Agaka's actions were lawful and supportive of President Bola Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

The PDP countered, claiming the APC was mischaracterizing residents as thugs due to their protests against the empowerment program, reflecting dissatisfaction with the current administration.
