APC Submits 27 Governorship Candidates for 2027 Elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially uploaded the names of its governorship candidates and their running mates for 27 states to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in preparation for the 2027 general elections. Currently, only one state in the North-East is pending finalization due to ongoing consultations regarding the selection of a deputy governorship candidate, which is expected to be resolved at a stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja before the submission deadline.

Notable candidates include Senator Sharafadeen Alli for Oyo State, Yakubu Danladi Salihu for Kwara State, Ahmed Tijani Galadima for Adamawa State, and Mohammed Abubakar for Bauchi State. The primaries in these states were highly contested, leading to internal disputes and defections, particularly in Bauchi State where Senator Shehu Umar Buba joined the PDP.

Despite these challenges, APC leaders are working to unify the party ahead of the elections. INEC has set August 8 as the deadline for political parties to submit their candidates for the governorship and State House of Assembly elections.
