APM Names Mohammed Onawo as Nasarawa Gov Candidate for 2027

Mohammed Onawo, the Senator representing Nasarawa South Senatorial District, has been chosen as the governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) for the 2027 general election in Nasarawa State. His selection occurred during a special delegates primary held on Saturday in Lafia, where he was affirmed by delegates from all 13 Local Government Areas of the state.

This congress was convened to fill the vacancy left by Dr Mohamed Auwal, the former candidate and current Nasarawa State Chairman of APM, who withdrew to support a candidate with broader appeal. After his affirmation, Onawo expressed gratitude to party members and committed to an issue-based campaign focused on security, infrastructure, agriculture, education, and job creation.

He highlighted his extensive political experience, including roles in the state legislature, the House of Representatives, and the Senate, asserting his capability to lead the state. Onawo expressed confidence that APM would secure victory in the 2027 elections if they are conducted fairly.
