Fayose Claims Atiku Too Old for 2027 Election

Ayodele Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti State, expressed in an interview on TVC’s Politics Tonight that Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), is too old to contest in the 2027 elections. He compared Atiku to former US President Joe Biden, stating that both are past their prime for such contests.

Fayose remarked, “Atiku is now really old. He’s a good man, but time has caught up with him,” and emphasized that this election represents the last chance for Atiku, Bola Tinubu, and Peter Obi to run.

Additionally, he pointed out that Rotimi Amaechi, Atiku's running mate, would face significant challenges in Rivers State due to his limited political influence and the disunity within the party. Fayose noted that many members of the ADC and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) lack grassroots connections, further complicating Amaechi's support in the region.
