Atiku Abubakar Addresses Age Concerns for 2027 Election

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), dismissed concerns about his age as he prepares for the 2027 presidential election. In an interview with BBC Hausa, he challenged critics to assess whether he looks like someone nearing 80 years old.

Atiku referenced President Bola Tinubu's age during the discussion, questioning the validity of age-related criticisms. He asserted that he was instrumental in forming the opposition coalition aimed at challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), countering claims that he was an obstacle to unity among opposition politicians.

Atiku identified Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso as the main figures who had left the coalition but expressed hope for future collaboration among opposition members. Additionally, he criticized the Federal Government's management of funds from the removal of the petrol subsidy, questioning their allocation and alleging misappropriation.

Atiku pledged to restore the petrol subsidy if elected president.
