CGG Urges ADC to Zone 2027 Presidential Ticket South

The Coalition for Good Governance (CGG), led by Chairman Okei Chikwendu and Secretary Attah Ikelegi, has called on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to zone its 2027 presidential ticket to southern Nigeria. This request is based on principles of equity and national cohesion, reflecting current political realities.

The CGG argues that fielding a southern candidate would align with public sentiment, strengthen the party's credibility, and prevent internal friction. Additionally, the coalition addressed ongoing demands for electoral reform, advocating for mandatory real-time electronic transmission of results to enhance data integrity and reduce human interference.

The CGG condemned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's recent amendments to the Electoral Act, describing them as a threat to Nigeria's democracy and warning that they could lead to a boycott of the 2027 elections by opposition parties. The coalition highlighted concerns over creeping authoritarianism and the erosion of democratic freedoms in Nigeria.
