CYAN Warns Trump Over Muslim-Muslim Ticket Threat

The Christian Youth Alliance of Nigeria (CYAN), a coalition of Christian organizations and human rights advocacy groups, has issued a petition to U.S. President Donald Trump and members of Congress regarding the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s Muslim-Muslim ticket for the 2027 general election.

The coalition claims this political decision represents a grave threat to the safety of Christians in Nigeria, particularly in the northern region. The petition, made public in Jos, Plateau State, criticizes President Bola Tinubu's retention of the Muslim-Muslim ticket, which they argue breaks a long-standing convention of sharing the country's highest offices across religious lines.

CYAN cites recent violence, including the deaths of at least 30 Christians in Kaduna State, as evidence of the deteriorating security situation. The group also condemned the Federal Government's policies regarding the rehabilitation of "repentant terrorists" and raised concerns about Nigeria's lobbying efforts in Washington.
