Kenneth Okonkwo Critiques Peter Obi's Leadership Failures

On September 8, Kenneth Okonkwo, the spokesperson for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, launched a strong critique against Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, and his former running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed. In interviews, Okonkwo claimed Baba-Ahmed is experiencing a “post-political identity crisis” following the 2023 presidential election and accused Obi of lacking the leadership necessary to sustain the Labour Party movement.

This criticism followed Baba-Ahmed's assertion that none of the prominent figures for the 2027 presidential election, including Obi, could effectively address Nigeria's challenges. Okonkwo noted that supporters of the Labour Party were disillusioned after the election, having believed in a transformative campaign.

He described the internal crisis within the Labour Party as indicative of Obi's incompetence in managing party affairs. Additionally, Okonkwo criticized Obi's attendance at the inauguration of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde’s campaign office, stating that it was an event belonging to another political platform.
