Okonkwo: Obi Needs Coalition to Challenge Tinubu

Kenneth Okonkwo, the spokesperson for the Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign, asserted that Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), cannot defeat President Bola Tinubu without forming an opposition coalition. During an interview with Ibeju Upgrade Media, Okonkwo argued that Obi would struggle to gain sufficient support in northern Nigeria if he runs against Tinubu alone.

He stated, “So, if Peter Obi goes against Tinubu alone, Tinubu will eat him like biscuits,” and expressed skepticism about Obi's acceptance in Kano, citing past electoral outcomes. Okonkwo further claimed that Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State, has nothing to contribute to Obi's ticket, noting that Kwankwaso has lost influence in Kano.

His comments come amid renewed efforts by opposition figures to form a coalition ahead of the 2027 elections.
