Nwifuru Warns Council Chairmen on 2027 Election Duties

On Tuesday, during the swearing-in ceremony of 13 newly elected local government chairmen and vice chairmen at the Ecumenical Centre in Abakaliki, Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State issued a stern warning. He stated that any chairman who does not ensure their council area votes for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections will be removed from office.

Nwifuru emphasized the importance of their mandate, urging them to mobilize support for the APC and declaring that the party aims to win 100 percent of positions in the upcoming elections. He advised vice chairmen to remain loyal to their chairmen, citing his Deputy Governor, Princess Patricia Obila, as a model of loyalty.

Additionally, he instructed party leaders at the ward level to submit names for executive assistant appointments, prioritizing women and youths. The governor announced a donation of One Million Naira (₦1 million) to each chairman and Three Hundred Thousand Naira (₦300,000) to each vice chairman from Gem Brass Construction.
