Dumwe Challenges PDP Over Consensus Candidate Selection

David Ayuba Dumwe, an aspirant from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) for the House of Representatives seat representing Akwanga, Nasarawa, and Eggon, has approached the Federal High Court in Lafia to challenge the party's selection of Sudar Aliyu as its consensus candidate for the 2027 general elections. Dumwe's legal action, marked as suit number FHC/LF/CS/9/2026, alleges that the PDP declared Aliyu as the consensus candidate without proper consultation or adherence to the provisions of the Electoral Act.

He contends that the party failed to conduct a valid primary election and that this action violates established democratic procedures. Dumwe seeks judicial intervention to determine the legality of the PDP's nomination process for the federal constituency seat.

The court has scheduled a hearing for June 16, 2026, amid heightened political activity as parties finalize their candidate selection processes ahead of the upcoming elections.
