APC Critiques Kwankwaso's Appeal to Atiku for 2027

The All Progressives Congress (APC) responded to Rabiu Kwankwaso's public appeal for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to abandon his 2027 presidential ambition and support the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ticket. APC spokesperson Felix Morka questioned the rationale behind opposition figures negotiating for the presidency before the 2027 general election, describing it as "horse trading" for an office that has not been won or guaranteed.

Kwankwaso, who is running as Peter Obi's vice-presidential candidate on the NDC ticket, suggested that Atiku should reconsider his candidacy due to his age and health, promising that the NDC would ensure Atiku's welfare if they win. Atiku, who will turn 81 next year, has expressed no intention of stepping down, viewing the 2027 election as his final opportunity for the presidency after previous attempts in 2007, 2019, and 2023.

Morka's comments indicate that the APC plans to leverage the opposition's internal conflicts as a political strategy.
