ADC's Igbawua Defends Atiku Against Kwankwaso's Remarks

Chille Igbawua, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), responded to Rabiu Kwankwaso's suggestion that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar should withdraw from the 2027 presidential race due to his age and health. Igbawua stated during an interview on Arise Television that questioning Atiku's ability to govern based on age is misplaced.

He emphasized that capability should be the focus rather than age alone, arguing that many younger individuals lack the mental capacity and agility that Atiku possesses. Kwankwaso, the vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), had urged people from Adamawa to convince Atiku to step aside, suggesting that he should concentrate on his traditional role as Wazirin Adamawa.

Igbawua criticized this suggestion as disrespectful and warned that it could deepen divisions among opposition politicians. He affirmed the ADC's openness to dialogue with other opposition groups despite political differences.
