NDC Denies Lack of Governorship Candidates for 2027

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) issued a statement on September 5, denying reports that it has no governorship candidates in 12 states for the upcoming 2027 elections. The party labeled these claims as false and politically motivated, asserting that they aim to undermine its expanding influence nationwide.

NDC's National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, confirmed that the party has nominated candidates in all 28 states where elections will occur. The candidates listed for the 12 disputed states include Senator Kabiru Marafa, Rear Admiral Ibrahim Sanusi Kasim in Borno, Hon. John Odey in Cross River, Babanta Michael Okon in Akwa Ibom, Nwofe Boniface in Ebonyi, Yakubu Solomon Ndam in Plateau, Ilu-Barde Aliyu in Katsina, Alhaji Umar Usman Besse in Kebbi, Jonga Yahaya Gabakau in Yobe, Dutse Aminu Sani in Jigawa, Prof. Yahaya Mohammed Sani in Taraba, and Abdu Sidi Bomi.

The NDC emphasized its presence across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, urging media professionals to verify political claims before publication. The party aims to present itself as a viable alternative to Nigeria's dominant political entities, focusing on security, job creation, and accountability.
