NDC Denies Allegations of Corruption Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) issued a statement on Monday, denying allegations of illegal payments and favoritism in its candidate selection process for the upcoming 2027 general elections. National Publicity Secretary Osa Director described these claims as misinformation propagated by disgruntled individuals aiming to undermine the party's popularity.

As a new political entity without current public office holders, the NDC explained its need for financial support through donations and contributions, which are constitutionally permitted. The party clarified that all funds were managed appropriately and rejected claims that its National Leader received money for personal use.

The NDC asserted that its presidential and vice-presidential tickets were offered free of charge, emphasizing that financial contributions should not be confused with ticket sales. The party accused unnamed opposition figures of spreading these allegations and stated it would consider legal action against those responsible.

The NDC reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and due process in its operations.
