Kwara Christians Urge APC for Religious Balance in 2027

The conglomerate of Kwara State Christian community has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to ensure religious balance in the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 elections. During a press briefing in Ilorin, Rev. Felix Ajid explained that the demand for balance is based on principles of fairness and equity, rather than a call for religious politics.

The group highlighted the need for candidates to be chosen based on competence and experience, regardless of their religious background. A survey by the Africa Poll Institute indicated that 90% of Muslim respondents would support a competent Christian candidate, while 98% of Christian respondents would support a competent Muslim candidate.

The group mentioned notable APC Christian politicians, including Engr. Femi Sanni and Dr. Toyin Alabi, as potential candidates. They urged Tinubu and APC leaders to account for the Christian community's aspirations when making decisions regarding the party's direction in Kwara for the upcoming elections.
