INEC and ICPC Collaborate for Corruption-Free Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced a two-day anti-corruption educational workshop for its staff in Abuja, in partnership with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). The workshop, themed "Corruption-Free Elections: Integrity Matters," was opened by INEC Chairman Prof.

Joash Amupitan, who emphasized that elections are foundational to democracy and that compromised elections erode public trust. Mr.

Mai Agbamuch Mbu, representing the ICPC, highlighted the commission's role in building capacity and sharing best practices to ensure free and fair elections. He noted that the ICPC provides resources for the training and encouraged participants to engage actively.

Dr. Musa Adamu SAN, representing the ICPC's legal services, stated that corruption is a significant barrier to development in the 21st century.

The workshop aims to strengthen the electoral process and ensure that it is devoid of malpractice, thereby maintaining law and order during elections.
