ICPC Urges INEC Officials to Avoid Corruption Ahead of 2027

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has issued a warning to officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Borno State to avoid corrupt practices, particularly result manipulation, in preparation for the 2027 general elections. Linus Gubbi, the Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner overseeing Borno and Yobe states, delivered this message during a workshop in Maiduguri aimed at educating INEC officials on their responsibilities in ensuring free, fair, and credible elections.

Gubbi stated that the workshop was essential for promoting integrity, accountability, and transparency within the electoral process. He highlighted that electoral corruption, including result manipulation and abuse of office, undermines public trust and can lead to serious consequences.

Gubbi praised the INEC Borno office for its cooperation and participation in the workshop. Sadiq Grema, Head of Department, General Administration at INEC Borno, expressed his satisfaction with the training, acknowledging the valuable insights gained.
