NDC Confirms Osayuki as Edo South Senatorial Candidate

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has reaffirmed that Mrs Epelle-Asemota Bridgitte Osayuki is its officially sponsored candidate for the Edo South Senatorial District. This clarification follows an error in the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) recent publication, which incorrectly displayed another aspirant's photograph and credentials alongside Mrs Epelle-Asemota’s name.

NDC's Director of New Media and Strategic Communication, Agada Abuh Theophilus, described the incident as an embarrassing mistake attributed to "mischievous elements" within INEC. The party emphasized that it had properly submitted all necessary documentation for Mrs Epelle-Asemota in accordance with the Constitution and the Electoral Act.

The NDC also defended her eligibility against ethnic-based criticisms, asserting her Nigerian citizenship and Benin ancestry. Mrs Epelle-Asemota has a notable background in public service and previously contested for the House of Representatives seat for Ovia Federal Constituency in the 2023 elections.
