NDC Reaffirms Sunny Aguebor as Edo South Candidate for 2027

The Edo South chapter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has reaffirmed Sunny Aguebor as its senatorial candidate for the 2027 election. This decision was made during a strategic meeting held in Benin, where the party initiated its campaign activities.

National Leader Senator Rowland Owie stated that a valid primary election was conducted, in which Aguebor emerged as the candidate, and he personally witnessed the process overseen by the party’s Vice Chairman with seven returning officers involved. Owie expressed disappointment over attempts to undermine the primary's outcome.

Aguebor alleged that his name was altered in documents submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), claiming that only the first page bore the name of his rival, Bridgette Osayuki Epelle-Asemota. He asserted that he obtained a certified copy of the primary election result and warned that those responsible for the alleged tampering would face prosecution, emphasizing that a candidate can only be replaced under specific legal circumstances.
