Wike Denies Relocation Plans Ahead of 2027 Elections

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, addressed speculation regarding his potential relocation to Rivers State ahead of the 2027 general elections. During a media parley in Abuja on Wednesday, Wike clarified that his frequent visits to Rivers are to maintain a connection with his constituents and monitor political activities.

He emphasized the importance of personally overseeing developments rather than relying on reports from political associates. Wike also advised Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke to present his Certificate of Return to President Bola Tinubu following his victory in the August 15, 2026, governorship election, where Adeleke secured 511,067 votes against Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who received 444,815 votes.

Furthermore, Wike expressed his commitment to actively participate in the 2027 political contest, specifically stating he would not allow former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to win the presidential election without a challenge.
