Wike Denies Relocation Plans, Focuses on 2027 Elections

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, addressed rumors regarding his potential relocation to Rivers State, stating that he plans to remain engaged with his constituents as the 2027 general elections approach. During a media parley in Abuja on Wednesday, Wike explained that he cannot solely depend on assurances from political associates about the situation in Rivers State.

He emphasized the necessity of his frequent visits to ensure proper political activities and communication with the people. Wike firmly stated, “I don’t want to sit in Abuja and candidates are saying, ‘oh, don’t bother, everything is going on well’.” He expressed his determination not to remain passive and allow former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to win the presidential election, highlighting the political significance of the current period.

Wike reaffirmed his commitment to actively engage with his community rather than simply relying on reports from afar.
