Gawuna's Loyalists Prepare to Defect to APC in Kano

Members of a political group loyal to former Kano State Deputy Governor Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna are set to defect from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). This development was disclosed following a solidarity visit to Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and his deputy, Murtala Sule Garo.

The visit was led by Muhammad Badaru Umar, a close associate of Gawuna, and included prominent figures such as Ali Datti Yako, the NDC Vice Chairman in Kano State, and others. Badaru emphasized their commitment to the development of Kano State and the importance of consulting with the governor and his deputy.

Ali Datti Yako remarked on the public's awareness of Governor Yusuf's efforts to improve the state. The visit reflects ongoing political realignments in Kano ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the impending defection expected to strengthen the APC's position in the state.
