Ezekwesili Backs Obi for 2027 Election, Calls for Change

On Monday, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, former Minister of Education and co-founder of the #BringBackOurGirls movement, reiterated her support for Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, as the 2027 election approaches. During an appearance on Arise TV’s ‘Prime Time’ show, she called for a new trajectory in national governance that prioritizes human dignity and addresses the failures of Nigeria’s political system.

Ezekwesili stated that her leadership criteria from the 2023 election still favor Obi over other candidates, asserting that nothing has significantly changed since then. She cautioned against personalizing the debate around Obi, emphasizing the need to focus on the broader issues at stake.

Ezekwesili lamented the erosion of human dignity in Nigeria and urged citizens to take responsibility by voting for their choices, challenging the notion that the current state of affairs is their destiny. She encouraged capable Nigerians to run for political office at all levels.
