Peter Obi Promises 10,000MW Power Supply in Four Years

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), made a commitment to resolve Nigeria's electricity issues by increasing the country's power supply to 10,000 megawatts within four years. He stated this pledge on Saturday, shortly after declaring his candidacy for the presidency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Obi emphasized that he would not make excuses for the challenges faced in the power sector, asserting that he would carefully study the issues to implement effective solutions. He pointed out that Nigeria, with a population of 200 million, currently generates and distributes only 4,000 megawatts of electricity, leaving millions without reliable power.

In comparison, countries like South Africa and Egypt, despite having significantly smaller populations, generate and distribute 40,000 megawatts of electricity. Obi's promise aims to address the unacceptable power supply situation in Nigeria.
