Obi Promises 10,000MW Power Supply in Four Years

Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate for the Labour Party, made a commitment during an interview with journalist Rufai Oseni to provide 10,000 megawatts of electricity within four years. He emphasized that achieving this target is essential for driving economic growth and improving living conditions in Nigeria.

When asked about the strategies to accomplish this goal, Obi declined to provide specific details, arguing that political leaders are often judged by their track records rather than the public disclosure of every aspect of their plans. He drew a comparison to campaign promises made by President Bola Tinubu, stating that voters should assess the character of candidates based on their commitments.

Nigeria continues to face significant electricity shortages, despite decades of reforms and investments in the power sector, which have been hampered by challenges in generation, transmission, and distribution.
