Kano Governor Yusuf Urges Peaceful Campaign for 2027

During a press conference marking the commencement of the 2027 governorship campaign in Kano, Governor Yusuf, represented by his Director General of Media and Publicity, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, cautioned politicians against hate speech and violence. He urged candidates and their supporters to focus on issue-based campaigns centered on ideas, policies, records, and programs, rather than resorting to insults and character assassination.

Yusuf emphasized the need to avoid property destruction and actions that could disrupt the peace in Kano. He called on supporters to remain disciplined and respect opposing views, while also advising media influencers and practitioners to verify information before publication to prevent the spread of misinformation.

The governor requested security agencies to act professionally and impartially during the campaign, encouraging cooperation from political parties. He reassured residents that his administration would continue to provide services and pursue development regardless of the political season, stressing that Kano's interests should prevail over political differences.
