Adebayo Promises Solar Power for Every Home by 2027

Adewole Adebayo, the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), announced his commitment to equip homes across Nigeria with 11 to 15 kilowatts of solar power within 11 months of taking office if elected in 2027. During an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time, Adebayo outlined his plans to address Nigeria's electricity challenges by establishing solar-panel manufacturing plants and training Nigerians in solar energy system installation, operation, and maintenance.

He claimed to have previously trained about 2,000 individuals in solar technology and expressed interest in partnering with countries like China, Turkey, and India for manufacturing facilities. Adebayo emphasized that these solar clusters could generate up to 32,000 megawatts of electricity, create jobs, and reduce reliance on the national grid.

He also highlighted the need for greater government involvement in strategic sectors, particularly in domestic crude oil refining and tackling oil theft, which he identified as significant barriers to energy security and economic growth.
