Kaduna Governor Uba Sani Backs Tinubu for 2027 Elections

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has rejected claims of increasing opposition to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the North ahead of the 2027 general elections. In an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Sani asserted that Tinubu could achieve between 70 and 80 percent of the votes in Kaduna State, a significant increase from the 29 percent he received in the 2023 elections.

Sani characterized the narrative of a northern backlash against Tinubu as largely driven by political propaganda and social media, not reflective of grassroots sentiments. He noted that the political landscape in Kaduna has shifted since 2023, with defections to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and federal projects under Tinubu, such as a Federal University of Science and Technology and a federal medical center, likely influencing voter sentiment.

Sani emphasized that effective campaigning requires engagement with voters at the grassroots level, dismissing the idea that candidates could challenge Tinubu through media appearances alone. He also stated that his administration has not taken any new loans since he took office.
