Jamila Abdu Mani Wins APC Candidacy for 2027 Elections

Hajiya Jamila Abdu Mani has been declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Mani Bindawa Federal Constituency in the upcoming 2027 general elections, breaking a longstanding tradition of male dominance in Katsina's political landscape. In the primary election held on Saturday, she secured 24,989 votes, defeating her closest rival, Ahm Saleh, who garnered 1,256 votes.

The election was conducted under the supervision of the APC electoral committee and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Shafi U Abdu Duwan, the chairman of the electoral committee for Mani Bindawa, announced the results, confirming Mani's victory.

This milestone is seen as a reflection of the growing acceptance of women in leadership positions within the state, as noted by APC supporters, including Moham Ibrahim. The election also faced challenges, as Ahm Saleh was reportedly placed under house arrest to prevent his full participation in the electoral process.
