Lawmaker Critiques Atiku Over Tinubu Credentials Focus

As political activities ramp up for the 2027 general elections, Dr Wale Ahmed, a member of the House of Representatives representing Agege Federal Constituency, and The Progressive Counsel, a group of lawyers and policy analysts, have criticized Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress. They condemned Atiku's renewed focus on President Bola Tinubu’s United States record, academic credentials, and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate, labeling it a distraction from critical issues facing Nigerians.

Ahmed stated that Atiku's fresh legal challenge regarding Tinubu's eligibility and his request for records from the US Federal Bureau of Investigation divert attention from necessary discussions on governance and policies. He emphasized that the allegations against Tinubu are still pending judicial determination and urged opposition politicians to present alternative solutions rather than recycling allegations.

Ahmed called for a campaign centered on ideas rather than litigating past controversies, highlighting the need to address pressing concerns like the economy and insecurity.
