Labour Party Names Hajia Bintu Konto as VP Candidate

The Labour Party unveiled Hajia Bintu Konto as its vice presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections, pairing her with presidential candidate Dr. Chibuzo Okereke. The announcement was made by Ken Asogwa, the party's national publicity secretary, in Abuja on Saturday.

This decision followed extensive consultations with stakeholders and emphasizes the party's commitment to presenting a ticket that embodies competence, integrity, and inclusiveness. Konto, a veteran nurse with a master's degree in public health, has over three decades of experience in healthcare delivery and humanitarian intervention, particularly in conflict-affected communities across northern Nigeria.

She has held various leadership positions, including with Catholic Relief Services. The Labour Party aims to strengthen its presidential ticket and calls on Nigerians to support it ahead of the 2027 elections.

This announcement comes shortly after the All Progressives Congress (APC) retained Kashim Shettima as vice president for their 2027 presidential election campaign.
