Makinde May Align with APC, Predicts Journalist Emechebe

Cece Emechebe, a journalist with Afia TV, has predicted that Seyi Makinde, the Governor of Oyo State, may not appear on the presidential ballot in 2027. During an interview on Tuesday, Emechebe speculated that Makinde could negotiate with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and support President Bola Tinubu.

She noted that as the election approaches, Makinde's political future remains uncertain. Emechebe suggested that Makinde might abandon a full presidential bid and instead form an alliance with another political entity.

She stated, “There’s another chance that he might decide to switch and then ally with the ruling party at the last moment and then sell his votes to Tinubu.” Emechebe emphasized that Makinde does not possess a strong enough mandate to pursue the presidency fully. Currently, Makinde is contesting for the presidency under the platform of the Allied Peoples’ Movement, having emerged as the party's presidential candidate in May 2026.
