Osun Election Results Signal Tinubu's 2027 Defeat

The Allied People’s Movement (APM) declared that the outcome of the Osun State governorship election serves as a warning that President Bola Tinubu may face defeat in the 2027 presidential election against Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, who is the APM’s candidate. The APM's National Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Abubakar, stated that the opposition's victory in Osun, a state with strong ties to Tinubu, reflects declining support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a desire for leadership change at the federal level.

The party noted that the booing of APC leaders during the election indicated public dissatisfaction with the ruling party. Abubakar emphasized that if economic hardships and poor governance persist, the Tinubu-led government would struggle to secure another term.

The APM also observed signs of discontent within the APC, citing instances of APC members chanting "APM" at gatherings. Makinde, who has been governor since 2019, will complete his second term in 2027 and run for president under the APM.
