Minister Urges Oyo Governor to Join APC Ahead of 2027

On Monday, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, the Minister of State for Works, called on Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in preparation for the 2027 general elections. This appeal was made during the flag-off of the dualisation of the Ibadan-Ijebu Road in Ogun State, an event attended by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, who represented President Bola Tinubu.

Goronyo stated that Makinde's switch to the APC would enable Oyo State to align with the Federal Government and benefit from the Tinubu administration's Renewed Hope Agenda. He invited Makinde to join the ruling party, emphasizing the importance of the Ibadan-Ijebu Road project for transportation and economic development.

Notably, Makinde was absent from the ceremony as he is currently pursuing the presidency under the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), which announced him as its presidential candidate on August 13, alongside Lawal Daura as the vice-presidential candidate.
