Peter Obi Promises Unity for Nigeria in 2027 Presidency

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has stated that his presidency will unite Nigeria and foster national healing, countering claims made by former Borno Governor Ali Modu Sheriff regarding his ability to promote unity. In an interview on Sunday Politics with Seun Okinbaloye on Channels Television, Obi emphasized his commitment to all regions of Nigeria, recalling his humanitarian visits to Borno State during the Boko Haram insurgency, where he consoled Sheriff after the death of his brother.

He highlighted his financial contributions, including ₦50 million for flood relief and support for internally displaced persons (IDP) camps. Obi has also funded borehole projects in various northern communities and traveled extensively across Nigeria to understand its diverse populations.

He expressed a vision for a reconciled nation, stating that his administration would initiate healing processes to address divisions stemming from the Nigerian Civil War, asserting that Nigeria's history should not hinder its future.
