Obi and Makinde Urge Unity for 2027 Presidential Election

On September 7, 2023, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), urged Nigerians and political leaders to unite in order to tackle the escalating issues of poverty, hunger, and insecurity as the country approaches the 2027 presidential election. This appeal was made during the commissioning of the 2027 presidential campaign office of Seyi Makinde, the Oyo State Governor and presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), in Abuja.

Obi emphasized that the current challenges facing Nigeria necessitate a collective effort rather than divisive political rivalry. He stated that the future of Nigeria should take precedence over personal ambitions and party interests.

Obi called for a transparent, free, and credible electoral process, asserting that all candidates must be ready to support the winner. He lamented the dire economic conditions and security challenges, highlighting the struggles faced by millions of Nigerians and the urgent need for collaboration to prevent the country from collapsing.
