NDC Demands Suspension of Lagos CP Tijani Over Partisanship

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has demanded the immediate suspension of the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, CP Tijani, due to his participation in a partisan political event ahead of the 2027 general elections. The party accused CP Tijani of compromising the expected neutrality of the Nigeria Police Force.

This demand followed the circulation of a video showing the commissioner at an event organized by the City Boy Movement Lagos State Chapter, a group associated with supporters of President Bola Tinubu. The NDC expressed concerns regarding CP Tijani's ability to perform his duties impartially during the upcoming elections, stating, “We condemn in the strongest terms the appearance of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani, at a partisan event promoting a particular candidate.” The party urged the Police High Command to take disciplinary action against him and called for a public commitment from the police to maintain neutrality and ensure equal protection for all political party supporters.
