Donald Duke: Nigeria Needs Vision for 2027 Elections

Donald Duke, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and former governor of Cross River State, addressed a news conference in Abuja on Tuesday, discussing Nigeria's challenges. He asserted that the issues facing the country are not solely due to poor leadership but also a significant absence of a clear vision among successive administrations.

Duke criticized the lack of preparation for younger generations to assume leadership roles, contrasting it with systems where potential leaders gain experience before taking office. He expressed his desire to participate in the national conversation and provide alternatives to current political leadership rather than merely criticizing the existing government led by President Bola Tinubu.

Duke challenged the Federal Government to articulate a vision for Nigeria's future over the next 10, 20, or 50 years and suggested that opposition candidates should collaborate to form a united front for the 2027 elections. He also warned the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) against complacency, indicating that not all governors aligned with the party would actively campaign for it.
