OK Movement Rejects Merger Ahead of 2027 Elections

The OK Movement, a political platform supporting the joint ticket of Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate Peter Obi and his running mate Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso, announced on Friday that it will not merge with any external political organization ahead of the 2027 general elections. This decision was made during a national leadership summit in Abuja, where resolutions were signed by Convener Ladipo Johnson and National Secretary Sadaatu Sani.

The movement emphasized its commitment to remain independent while being open to collaboration with like-minded groups. Johnson stated that any externally imposed consolidation could disrupt existing programs and undermine the grassroots identity built by the movement.

The group also reaffirmed its support for John Ughulu as Director-General, warning that his removal could jeopardize the grassroots structure. Additionally, the summit appointed Prince Suleiman Abubakar as Deputy Director-General (North) following the resignation of Amb.

Muhammad Auwal Musa and sought reconciliation with Ms Jacky Wayas for a strategic role within the organization.
