APC Leaders Urge Electable Candidates for 2027 Elections

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Okitipupa and Irele have called on the party to select candidates with proven grassroots support ahead of the 2027 general elections. This appeal was made during an APC grassroots engagement network event held in Okitipupa, Ondo State.

Stakeholders highlighted the importance of mobilizing voters, referencing the recent Ondo South senatorial bye-election, which saw a turnout of 10.5% from 672,302 registered voters. The APC secured victory with 68,474 votes, demonstrating its dominance in Ondo State.

They noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu received 106,052 votes in the 2023 presidential election, while APC's senatorial candidate, Jimoh Ibrahim, garnered 110,665 votes. The stakeholders stressed the need for candidates to have grassroots acceptance and the ability to mobilize support, citing Chief Dele Omosehin as an example of a politician with goodwill in the community.

They reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing voter education and strengthening party structures to ensure electoral success in the upcoming elections.
