Peter Obi Clarifies 'Ready to Die for My Vote' Comment

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress, explained his recent comment about being "ready to die for my vote" during a speech in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. He stated that the remark was intended to motivate Nigerians who are determined to ensure their votes count in the upcoming 2027 election.

In an interview with Arise Television, Obi clarified that his statement was a response to citizens expressing their willingness to defend their votes. He emphasized the need for a reliable system to transmit accurate election results from polling units to the public.

Obi proposed a dual transmission system where results would be sent to the designated Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal while also being relayed to a situation room for verification. He assured that measures would be implemented to ensure proper counting and recording of votes at every polling unit, aiming to prevent discrepancies in the announced results.
