Peter Obi Unveils Vote Protection Strategy for 2027 Election

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 election, revealed a strategy to protect votes by independently transmitting results from polling units to his campaign situation room. In an interview with Arise TV on Thursday, Obi explained that this system would allow his team to receive, monitor, and verify results as they are recorded at polling units.

He clarified that this arrangement would complement the official result transmission process of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) rather than replace it. Obi emphasized the importance of ensuring that votes are counted, recorded, and transmitted properly, proposing a dual transmission system where results are sent to both the INEC portal and his situation room.

He rejected the notion that this plan would create a parallel result-transmission system, asserting it was meant for independent monitoring. Obi encouraged other organizations to adopt similar mechanisms to ensure transparency in the electoral process, citing examples from Ghana and other countries.
