Makinde Rejects Fuel Subsidy, Unveils 2027 Agenda

Seyi Makinde, the Oyo State Governor and presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), announced his agenda for the 2027 elections during the inauguration of the APM presidential campaign secretariat in Abuja. He stated that if elected, he would reset Nigeria and firmly rejected any suggestions of reinstating the old fuel subsidy regime.

Makinde clarified that his proposal regarding domestic crude oil pricing should not be misconstrued as a plan to restore fuel subsidies. He argued that crude oil supplied to Nigerian refineries should be priced to reflect the benefits of domestic production, rather than as if it were imported.

He used an analogy of a community growing food to illustrate that local resources should not be priced as if they had traveled long distances. Additionally, former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi called for unity among opposition political forces to address the country's challenges, emphasizing the need for collaboration regardless of political differences.
