Kano Villagers Demand Bridge Repair for Election Votes

Residents of Romi village in Kano have expressed their frustration over the long-standing neglect of a bridge that has remained unreconstructed since its collapse in 1996. The bridge, initially built through a self-help initiative and completed by the local government council in 1995, serves as a critical link for nearly 20 communities, including Kwa, Dungurawa, and Bumburawa.

Community leader Isa Adamu Abdullahi stated that the poor condition of the bridge forces residents to rely on motorcycles and bicycles to access essential services in Dawakin Tofa town. Commuter Magaji Hussain emphasized that he would not vote in the forthcoming elections unless the bridge is rebuilt, highlighting the dangers faced while traveling the route, especially at night.

Another resident, Junaidi Danladi, noted that the road's condition has led to attacks by motorcycle thieves. Despite these challenges, Ahmad Isa, the APC Secretary of Romi Ward, remains hopeful that the infrastructure issues will eventually be addressed.
