Kano Government Advocates Peaceful Campaign for 2027 Election

The Kano government has called on political parties, governorship candidates, and their supporters to engage in peaceful and issue-based campaigns ahead of the 2027 governorship election. Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the Director-General of Media and Publicity at Government House, Kano, made this appeal on behalf of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

He emphasized the importance of campaigning with respect, focusing on ideas and policies rather than insults or violence. Dawakin Tofa urged political actors to prioritize the interests of Kano and to avoid hate speech, provocation, and character assassination.

He also called on media organizations and social media users to verify information before publication to prevent the spread of fake news. Furthermore, he urged security agencies to maintain professionalism and impartiality during the campaign period.

Dawakin Tofa concluded with a partisan appeal for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates to win all political positions, reinforcing the need for unity and peace in Kano.
