SDP National Convention in Abuja: Aiming for 2027 Elections

On Wednesday, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) conducted its National Convention in Abuja, where it committed to a campaign titled "operation farewell to poverty and insecurity," aimed at reaching all electoral wards across Nigeria. Prof Abubakar Umar Sadiq Gombe, the party’s national chairman, addressed delegates from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), asserting that the SDP is united and prepared to take power from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the upcoming 2027 elections.

He encouraged Nigerians to maintain faith in the democratic process, stating that the SDP possesses the necessary capabilities to restore greatness to the nation. Prince Adedayo Adewole, the party’s presidential candidate, emphasized that Nigeria should not be impoverished given its vast human and mineral resources, attributing the nation's challenges to poor leadership.

He assured that the SDP is ready to address these issues if granted the mandate at the polls. The convention also ratified the leadership of Prof Gombe and the decisions made by the National Executive Council.
